iKnives: A Better Alternative to Traditional Tool Steels

At Damatech, we manufacture industrial knives from prehardened steel grades nder our own brand, iKnives. This is an innovative solution where we aim to replace traditional tool steels for cold and hot work with Hardox and Toolox steels, which have significantly higher toughness at the same hardness levels.

Advantages of iKnives

For simple knife shapes, Hardox 600 steel with a hardness of 58 to 60 HRc is an excellent replacement for cold work tool steels, especially in applications where there is a high risk of knife breakage and cutting temperatures are below 300 degrees Celsius.

Recently, we have developed and successfully tested industrial knives made from Toolox 44 steel, where the cutting edges are induction hardened to a hardness of 58 to 59 HRc to a depth of 4 mm. These industrial knives have been successfully tested in the steel industry on shears for cutting high-strength plates and in the recycling industry for recycling tires and wood, where cutting occurs at elevated temperatures.

The tests have shown that iKnives have a longer lifespan and a significantly lower risk of breakage. We can deliver the knives with short lead times, within 2 to 3 weeks.
