Superior crack resistance - Toolox is 2 to 3 times tougher than comparable steels of similar hardness
Very low residual stresses - Designed to be shaped - Toolox 33 vs 1.2312 for instance, which at same milling speed allows for 3x insert life length or allows for 20% faster milling speed
Suitable for surface engineering - high hardness and toughness of Toolox make it an ideal substrate for surface treatments such as nitriding
Typical mechanical values of Toolox 33
Toolox 33 covers applications of steel grades 1.2311, 1.2312 and 42CrMo4QT. Toolox® 33 is suitable for mold and dies as well as tooling and engineering components. By using the proper surface engineering methods, you can significantly extend the service life of your tools and components. Toolox 33 is quenched and tempered tool steel, prehardened to 33 HRc, designed to have low residual stresses. Toolox 33 is characterized by extremely good machinability (better than 1.2312) and has excellent polishing and photoetching properties (same as 1.2311).
Toolox 33 is better option as 1.2312 and 1.2311 together
